Humans have over 100,000 years of cellular expectation that food is whole, containing all the nutrients required to generate fuel for all cellular and bodily activities. This fuel and energy is produced in the Mitochondria, our cellular power factories. If the micro nutrients* aren’t available to process and “burn” the macro nutrients* in these Mitochondria, then these factories of energy production show down, and so does everything downstream.
*Micronutrients: minerals, vitamins and enzymes—lacking in junk food
*Macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, and fats—abundant in junk food
